How To Make A Faux Cream Cheese – Recipe

Faux Cream Cheese Recipe - Finished Product
2nd June 2018 by Sumear No Comments
Note – This article was written before I went dairy-free.
Note – The cream cheese that I make and sell is made using traditional methods using cultures and rennet. The cheese from this recipe uses an acid to create a fake cream cheese. This article was written in March/April 2018.

A cream cheese recipe is quite a milestone for me. It seems strange and weird, but I am a strange and weird person.

If you kept up with the cheesy side of my life, you know that I have a thing for cream cheese.

Usually, I would eat an entire tub of cream cheese in a single sitting and all by myself. It’s not a typical occurrence as it only happens if I strike the urge for something cheesy, fatty and just utter naughtiness.

Recently I have delved heard first in the world of cheese making, and I learnt that there is a difference between store bought and the real cream cheese, so I highly recommend trying this cream cheese recipe out.

My Favourite Places To Buy Cheese – Round Up

Cheese blocks
23rd May 2018 by Sumear No Comments
Note – This article was written before I went dairy-free.

Everyone has their favourite place to shop, even to buy cheese. Buying from outlets other than supermarkets will be more expensive,  nevertheless, you will return home with a superior cheese and eating experience.

Here is a roundup of the places where I buy my cheeses from and the reasoning behind them. They are not in any particular order, however, each location provides a certain experience and selection of cheese that would fit my needs at that moment in time.

Can Dogs Eat Cheese? Should You Give It To Them?

Pugsly the Pug
19th May 2018 by Sumear No Comments
Note – This article was written before I went dairy-free.

My dogs love cheese, especially the pug. Strange because I don’t actively give them cheese, yet they seem to be stealing mine whenever I get a slice out for myself.

So we gather that cheese is to dogs what cat-nip is to cats. Addictive.

But should we be letting them devour our cheese?

3 Year Vintage By Davidstow – Cheese Tasting

9th May 2018 by Sumear No Comments
Note – This article was written before I went dairy-free.

Welcome to Cheese Tasting with Sumear & Co. This segment is simply about tasting new cheeses on my tod or reluctantly with others while we share and devour a block of cheese. By no means am I or anyone I know a cheese connoisseur with a decent set of taste buds to pick up on subtle flavours, but who cares?! Anyway, enjoy 🙂

This time in our little Cheese Tasting segment we are sampling supermarket cheese! The horror! Don’t worry, it’s a well delivered and reasonably priced cheese and often found in most major UK supermarkets. The cheese is known just as ‘3 Year Vintage’, made locally in the South West of England by Davidstow.

Kelly’s By Cheesemakers of Canterbury – Cheese Tasting

Kellys Cheese - sliced

By no means am I or anyone I know a cheese connoisseur with a decent set of taste buds to pick up on subtle flavours, but who cares?! Anyway, enjoy 🙂

This time is another a piece of cheese I picked up from one of my favourite cheesemongers, Paxton & Whitefield. The cheese is called Kelly’s, made locally in Kent, England by the Cheesemakers of Canterbury.

Been surrounded by the vegan Feta today. 76 packs made & individually wrapped in plastic-free packaging and then produced several catering sized blocks. Would say no more please, but gotta make more later on this week 🙈

A quick little snap here by @warmlii with the Vegan Feta topping a few leaves, beautiful sun dried tomatoes & a crisp bread of sorts. Looks like there's freshly cracked pepper on top too. It's one of the healthiest ways I seen people eat my food 😅 Still yummy of course!

This pigeon is loving my cheese that it found on the ground. Was chucking all other the place trying to eat the rind part of it. Wasn't even afraid to sit between my feet and peck away as I packed up. Had it get it out of the mat it threw it into. Think he/she/it was thankful for my help 😬😅 If my cheese is good enough for a bird, it's good enough for you - my new slogan.

Samples are always available at my stall in markets and other events. Where possible I give my stockist free samples to give to you to help convince that a good Vegan cheese is possible when it's done right. Today I'm at the Tobacco Factory market in Southville, Bristol till 2:30pm. To see where I'll be in the future, check foodbysumear.co.uk/cal for all my dates. The calendar is constantly being updated so keep an eye on it 🙂
